Lampworking
is the centuries'-old art of melting glass through a 2,000 degree flame to
create, in this case, tiny one-of-a-kind works of wearable art. I use
mainly glass from Murano, Italy and never duplicate a piece exactly... each
one is as special and unique as the person who wears it.
I recently
moved my studio/gallery to 135 Jay Street, a
quaint little pedestrian-only street in the heart of beautiful, re-vitalized
downtown Schenectady, opposite the entrance to Proctors Theater. Custom work
is welcome. If you don't see exactly what you want, I'll be glad to work
with you to create that special piece.
You are heartily invited to come watch me work, while sitting comfortably at the
expanded viewing area. Prepare to be mesmerized.
In addition
to showcasing the art of lampworking, the gallery is evolving into a great new
destination. Every month several different juried artists will
display and sell their work and evening lessons for adults will be given in
whatever medium you like...Glassy Beads...and More is a safe haven where
everyone who believes they're "not an artist" will prove themselves
wrong!
